1.(C) Econoff conveyed ref A non-paper regarding UNSCR 1803's call for member states to exercise vigilance in dealing with Iranian banks to MFA Director of Bilateral Affairs Dr. Dhafer Al-Umran March 24 and met to follow up with him and pass ref B non-paper on specific activities of Banks Melli, Mellat, and Saderat March 27.

2.(C) Al-Umran told Econoff that the GOB supported resolution 1803 and the related UNSCRs preceding it, i.e., 1737 and 1747. He said that given Bahrain's status as a financial center, it was important that Bahrain be seen to take seriously any potential threat to the integrity of Bahrain's banking system.

3.(C) On the ref B Melli, Mellat, Saderat non-paper, Al-Umran noted the value of the specific information on Iranian banking abuses.
